This booklet is an outcome from the “Future vocabularies” workgroup at the workshop taught by We Are Here association and BAK (Utrecht and Amsterdam, 5th – 9th April 2016), considering the question of representation within art and politics with regards to refugees’ struggle. The series considers the need for a new lexicon to sustain an actualized understanding engaging in developing a new collective dictionary. Here we contributed in creating a space and opening doors for a sincere and honest discussion about the complex relation between refugees and citizens, the most urgent issue we are encountering around the world today.

*The Collective Dictionary is a series of publications containing definitions of concepts. The terms proposed are those considered fundamental for the understanding of the contemporary condition of Palestinian refugee camps. These words have emerged as a result of actions and active dialogs with the camp community. Written reflections on personal experiences, interviews, excursions and photographic investigations constitute the starting point for the formulation of more structured thoughts. The Collective Dictionary is both the reference and conceptual framework for all Campus in Camps projects and interventions.
